Mint

Having been pondering over packaging for some time, and consulting with many people on the best way to present products, when I'm not always sure whether it's a gift for a boy or a girl, Daniella came up with a cunning plan. Mint. Fresh, and unisex, and oh so elegant.
I'm hugely enjoying sending purchases out wrapped like this, and I hope the recipients are just as pleased, a bit of luxury in this tough time, and a handwritten note from me!

Auctions...

I have neglected this little blog for too long recently, my apologies for that, I can only say that weaning a baby is far more challenging that I had ever imagined, though Felix is rapidly showing he has is father's appetite which is a relief!

Having said that, I am getting braver, and took Felix to an auction recently. We have been searching for a good quality, good price teak bench for some years, and I found this one in a local auction catalogue. Bidding with a shaky left hand, with the right holding a bottle and baby is not something I would necessarily recommend but I am delighted to say I won, and the beautiful bench below now has pride of place in our garden, only awaiting a cushion in a vibrant fabric I have yet to discover.

Sadly, the weather has been too bad to sit out since we got it, but I can but hope! I do hope you are all enjoying the rain, and I shall do my very best to let you now how comfortable it is! Jennifer x

Summer's here!

Okay, I know, a few nice days does not a summer make, but let's hope there are more on their way soon. I for one have got very excited and ordered lots of sunhats for Livvy & Me... overboard, me? Never!

To date Felix has declined to model any for me, but as I have finally got organised and made him his cushion I'm hoping we might be able to make a deal. Photos of my masterpiece to follow, sadly I foolishly abandoned my camera at my parents house.

I do hope you are all enjoying the fine weather this half term, and are not dreaming of the peace that comes with school time! Jennifer x

Inspiration comes from the strangest places...

Having been a very keen seamstress in the past, working with acorn & will, I have seriously neglected my sewing machine for some months, mainly due to baby Felix and a stint in a 'proper job' in Bath. However, changes are afoot, mainly due to Kirsty Allsopp - strangely!

I have watched her show with curiosity, many of the ideas I have seen on blogs or in my friend Daniella's home, but in spite of all that, she has given me reason to think. I have always loved the idea to taking time to create a home with different pieces, old and new, and loved creating things to add to my home. Kirsty has made me think that maybe, inspite of the son who doesn't sleep I can continue to do this, to make an envelope cushion, rather than one with an invisible zip, and that it might be quicker and easier to make my place mats rather than scour the stores for them.

So, watch this space, as I try to reintroduce crafting into my world, as well as looking after Felix, the house, and Livvy and Me. Am I living in a dream world? Perhaps, but at least it will be beautiful! Jennifer x

New start

A new start on so many levels, mainly because of this little man! My son, Felix is 3 months old, and has made me re-think my working life.

Having previously worked as a teacher, and on a new business, some of you may have read acornandwill.blogspot.com, I am now working for myself, from home, slightly scared!

Livvy & Me is a stylish baby gift company established by Anna, a friend of mine who has kindly passed it on to me. I'm hoping working from home will give me more time to spend with Felix, whilst running my own business should stretch all those business studies skills I used to teach!

I'm currently looking at catalogues and trying to choose the perfect products to enhance the current range, which is a lot of fun, and I look forward to sharing some of my finds soon. Jennifer x
